The boarding house

The right atmosphere in a boarding institution makes a child grow up with a sense of responsibility and self-discipline, respect for different customs and cultures. Boarding Houses at VSRCS are blended very well with modern technology and international outlook. Young boys and girls enter the portals of the Boarding House at a tender age and then emerge as mature and confident young men and women, bearing the distinctive VSRCIANS traits of Confidence, Discipline and Honesty which distinguishes them in a crowd.

The School has air conditioned hostels with separate facilities for boys and girls. The spacious, well-ventilated rooms are shared by Six students. Hot water facility is made available in winters.

Each hostel has a total capacity of 36 students under the efficient supervision of the House Parents. The students are expected to make their beds in the morning and to arrange and maintain their almirah and respective personal spaces. The hostels are inspected regularly by the Staff to ensure that the rooms are well kept. House-keeping and laundry are handled by the contracted staff of Compass.

The Boarding Houses also provide modern comforts with recreational facilities including indoor games in the Common Room where children are able to use their leisure time productively. They can watch television in the afternoon and in the evening after dinner.

Students take their meals in the comfortable ambience of the spacious Dining Hall guided on meal etiquettes by the House Parents and teachers. British caterers Compass provide hygienic and nutritive food and efficient service.

Food is served to the juniors while the seniors serve themselves. Stress is laid on quality, nutrition and hygiene.

A Menu Committee comprising students and teachers plan the menu and ensure quality, variety and diet options in consultation with a nutritionist. The menu includes vegetarian and non-vegetarian options

General

Students are allotted cubicles/rooms according to their age and class.

Students should not waste water and electricity.

Recreational facilities like Indoor games, Television and newspapers are provided to the boarders.

Boarders must bring the clothing and other essential things as per the list provided by the school.

The clothes should be labeled, listed and one copy should be given to the resident matron.

They should always be punctual and maintain strict discipline.

Rooms have to be kept neat and clean at all times

Should not waste water and electricity.

Boarders are not allowed to keep any money, valuables, any electronic gadgets or mobile phones etc. with them.

All purchases by the boarders must be done through the school authorities or parents and Guardians.

In case any parent sends food articles to any boarder, they will not be permitted to keep eatables inside the room.

Parents can visit their wards on Sunday or a holiday.

Students are expected to use the study time profitably and discipline has to be maintained in the study hall.

Fancy belts, rings, trinkets, make-up sets, nail polish, hair colours will be confiscated if brought to school.

Only hair clips, hair bands or ribbons for girls. Long hair should be braided.

Fancy hair cut or coloring of hair is prohibited.

Boarders have to wear the sports uniform provided by the school for games.

In case of sickness, it should be reported to the boarding mentor and to the resident nurse for appropriate action.

All incidental expenses of the boarders will be recovered from their pocket money.

Boarders are not permitted to visit or stay in other rooms after 10.00 p.m.

Boarders have to pay all dues towards the school before leaving the boarding.

Any damage caused to the school property will be recovered along with a fine.

Boarding rules have to be strictly followed by all boarders.

Continuation as boarder will be based on the academic performance, behavior and turnout.

Leave

Students are normally not allowed to leave the school during the term except in very special cases.

Students may be granted leave up to a maximum period of three days in case of an emergency and this can be availed only once in a year.

Leave may be granted for special medical treatment if necessary.

A written request from the parent should be sent directly to the boarding mentor for availing leave.

Prescription and Medical Bills to be submitted after a long absence. The Doctor's certificate only will not be taken into consideration.

The students should be picked up and brought back strictly on the dates and time given to them

The boarders will not be sent with any other person unless he/she brings a letter of authorization from the parent

Boarders are not allowed to go out the campus without the authorization of the boarding mentor.

While leaving the school campus they must wear the student identity card.

Boarders are not allowed to stay alone or with friends while they are in exeat.

In case of drop and pick up is required by the boarders, parents are to inform the boarding mentor in writing well in advance. The cost of the same will be recovered from their pocket money.

Boarding options

VSRCS offers weekly and regular boarding options for its students. These options have been planned to suit the diverse needs of parents and students.

Weekly Boarding - The weekly boarding option is particularly helpful for families that are nuclear and where both the parents are working. The children are in school through the week and are engaged in all the activities of the boarding house. The students visit their homes on Saturday aftternoon and stay connected with their family as well.

Regular Boarding - The regular boarding students stay on campus throughout the academic year except during vacations. They experience the complete boarding program of the weekend activities that are constructive, fun and engaging.

House Parents and mentors

The house-parents and mentors of VSRCS are committed to being there for the students at any time of the day or night. It is their responsibility to ensure that all students are healthy, happy and well cared for. A homely environment is important for a child's well being and the house-parents completely understand this. The house-parents are well acquainted with the knowledge of first-aid, resolving disagreements or conflicts, puberty and adolescence age and emotional well being. In the absence of parents, house-parents play a significant role in the child's life by being a guide, friend, counsellor and a role model.

Academic support

House parents and mentors are also responsible for ensuring that all boarders get supervised and personalised academic support by the skilled staff at EISB. Boarders are supported in all subjects and encouraged to develop a regular study schedule.

SAFETY AND SECURITY

The School has a well designed fire-fighting system with fire hydrants connected to the overhead tank. The School has an environmentally friendly generator which ensures that the electricity supply is uninterrupted. A multilevel security system comprising CCTV cameras are installed for electronic monitoring. A Security Agency with well trained guards ensures campus security at all times. Mock evacuation drills are conducted regularly to teach the students to handle emergencies.

Celebrations and festivities

Celebrations and festivities are occasions that everyone looks forward to International and Indian festivals, National Day's are celebrated with the same vigour, pride and joy. Birthday celebrations are held at the Club with children inviting their classmates - they enjoy merry time dancing, partying and cutting the cake with friends, house parents and teachers.

Health Centre

VSRCS places great importance on the health and safety of children. A well-equipped infirmary with a nurse is available on campus fulltime. Regular health checkups are conducted by qualified doctors. Reports of the health check are conveyed to parents in case the student needs any treatment. In case of emergencies, the child is taken to the nearest clinic/hospital. Prescription drugs are administered to the child only when prescribed by the physician.

Counselling

Professional personal counselling is available to students as and when needed to resolve any conflicts or disturbances that may arise at any time.

Career Guidance

A professional career guidance counsellor guides students with their academic choices, co-curricular pursuits, careers and pre-university advice. Complete guidance on test preparations and support for college applications is provided without any additional monetary commitments.

Dining

At VSRCS, we offer a multi-cuisine food menu which caters to varying tastes and ethnicities. The food menu which changes daily has been designed in such a way that it adheres to the nutritional needs of the boarders, thus helping parents to be confident of their children's eating habits. Jain, Vegetarian & Non-Vegetarian meals are available.

Discipline
  • It is expected that each students displays his best and maintains cleanliness of his room and his surroundings.
  • It is expected that every boarder follows the specific schedule of timings of the boarding house rising up and lightsout.
  • Matters like bullying, harassing, ragging or hurting physically / mentally is dealt seriously and disciplinary action would be taken against defaulter.
  • Destruction or damage to school / boarding house property due to breakage or graffiti shall lead to penalization.
  • Stealing, smoking, consuming drugs, alcohol, possession of objectionable and obscure material are offenses that would lead to direct expulsion of the student from the boardinghouse.
  • Once admitted as a boarder, the student is not permitted to become a day scholar.
  • Principal's decision is final in all matters.
  • Articles to be brought from home ( Find the list).
  • Boarders would be allowed to call up home once in a week for 10minutes.
  • Parents are not allowed to call the child. If they wish to take the feedback from Housemaster/Tutors/ Teachers, it should not be more than once a month.
  • No electronic gadgets,PSP,Game boy are allowed in the possession of the students .The school will not be responsible for loss of such items.
  • Students are not allowed to keep spray deodorants, correction fluids and hair styling gels.
  • Boarders are not allowed leave during the school term except in the case of family medical emergency relating to any member of the immediate family (brother, sister, uncle, aunt).
  • Medical leave will be granted by the Principal. On return to the school, the student should deposit with the school infirmary all supporting medical documents and medical certificates including prescriptions.
For Dressing and appearance:
  • Boarders are expected to be presentable at all times.
  • It is expected that every boarder follows the specific schedule of timings of the boarding house rising up and lightsout.
  • Uniforms are to be worn as per the expectation of the school.
  • Coloring of hair, inappropriate hair styling and body tattoos are not permissible.
  • Students are not allowed to keep spray deodorants, correction fluids and hair styling gels.
  • Hipster style trousers are not allowed.
  • Fancy belts, rings, trinkets, make-up sets, nail polish, hair dyes will be confiscated if brought to school.
  • All the belongings of every student must be listed and clearly marked. Boarders are expected to adhere to linen room timings given by the house.
Instructions for Parents:
  • Parents and guardians who come to visit their wards must contact the Housemaster who will then summon the child to his study and hand him to the visitor.
  • Parents may not stay in school past 6.00 p.m. If they wish to see the Housemaster/Tutors or any other teacher, they should take prior appointment from the concerned person.
  • Parents need to understand that their frequent visit to school will only disturb the schedule of the child and teachers. The best time to meet the teachers is at the beginning of the term and at the end of the term when all the teachers will be available to meet the parents or during the parent-teacher meeting after each assessment.
  • Parents are not allowed to bring any eatables to school.
  • Rules may be changed time to time without prior intimation.

Please Note:

  1. Parents are requested not to give any Cash, Costly Items, Audio System, Electric or Electronic Items, Perfume, Hairgel, Videogames, Expensivewristwatches, Immersionheater, Iron, Cellphonesetc.
  2. No eatables are allowed inside the hostel.
  3. Please label each of your child's belongings with his/her admission number, written with permanent marker.
  4. Any Items Other than the Prescribed Ones, If Brought to the Hostel, Will Be Confiscated and Destroyed.
  5. If Any Objectionable Material / Article Is Found with the Student, the School Authoritieswill Be Forced to Take Strict Disciplinary Action Against That Student.
  6. IF ANY DAMAGE IS DONE TO THE SCHOOL PROPERTY, IT WILL BE BORNE BY THE STUDENT INCLUDING THEFINE IMPOSED.
